(August 17, 2000) - Vitran Corporation Inc. (TSE: VTN.A, AMEX: VVN), a North American
transportation and logistics firm, today unveiled the next generation of its on-line
Accutrak system to its Canadian LTL customers, with a roll-out to its other Canadian and
US customers to follow. AccuTrak is now equipped with several innovative new enhancements
motivated by customer requests.
- e-mail alert feature - Notifies
shippers as soon as their delivery has been completed with a copy of proof of delivery.
This unique new enhancement is especially important for special priority or promotional
shipments requiring immediate customer notification when the delivery has arrived. Prior
to e-mail alerts, clients could trace their shipments via the Internet, with modem dial-up
tracing or by calling Vitran's customer service to check shipment status.
- Customized Shipment Management Report
(SMR) - The user-friendly, menu-driven tool now offers Vitran's customers the
flexibility they want to design their own SMRs. The new Web Scheduler feature allows as
many customized SMRs as created by customers to run at any pre-set time of the day, and
Vitran has added several additional new report options as well.
- SMR sorting improvements -
Customers are now able to sort their shipment's delivery or appointment dates in addition
to the previous options of sorting by origin, destination, shipper name, consignee name or
pickup date.
- SMR shipment selection improvements -
Customers can further limit their reports to print only undelivered and late shipments, or
shipments that are scheduled with appointments.
